The charming capital city of Switzerland, Bern, is located in the centre of the country on a peninsular formed by the meandering River Aare. Although a comparatively small city, only the fourth most populated city in Switzerland, it is home to the Swiss parliament and hosts heads of state and other dignitaries on a regular basis. To cater for this demand there are many Bern Five Star Hotels, many ultra modern and others fully renovated and refurbished historical old buildings providing modern amenities and facilities. Bern Five Star Hotels are perfect for both business visitors and leisure guests to the city.

The historical center of Bern with its quiet cobbled lanes, medieval sandstone buildings straddling the pavements, street fountains and towers is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has barely changed at all in the last 500 years. Surrounded by hills and steep river banks with the majestic Alps in the distance, the city is still well wooded with fabulous floral gardens and has been voted Europe's most floral city as well as one of the worlds most beautiful and relaxing capital cities. The laid-back ambiance is one of the city's main attractions, where traffic is kept out of the Old Town and visitors and locals can spend days wandering the streets and alleys and on warm summer days can enjoy a dip in the river.

One of the main attractions for guests to any of the Bern Five Star Hotels is the Zytglogge, or the Clock Tower, near the city center which was built in the 13th century. Every hour there is a stunning display of animatronic technology including dancing bears and drumming jesters. There are many architectural gems including many medieval buildings with Baroque facades, a 16th century pharmacy, St Peter and St Paul's Kerche, and many other quaint little shops and buildings in the 6km of arcades. Einstein's House where he developed the Theory of Relativity, ancient ornamental fountains, cafes and antiquarian booksellers are all sites not to be missed.

The main language spoken is a Swiss-German dialect although most people can also converse in French and English. Bern is very well connected to the rest of the country with a small international airport and extensive train, road and bus access.

Bern hotels are perfectly positioned to allow guests easy access to the rail station, tourist attractions or next door to the parliament buildings. Whether a traditional old building beautifully renovated or a modern newly constructed hotel, the architecture blends into the surroundings creating a wonderful harmonious effect.

Some guest rooms at Bern Five Star Hotels have balconies that offer breathtaking views of the Bernese Alps and the Aare River while others overlook the rooftops of the medieval town or the inner courtyard. They are spacious and elegantly furnished with traditional decor that includes perfectly balanced colors, refined fabrics, elegant sparkling chandeliers and functional amenities. Self-adjustable air conditioning, satellite TV and pay movies and high-speed internet are some of the amenities provided to ensure that all guests have a comfortable stay. Suites include separate sitting rooms with beautifully upholstered sofas and chairs, work desks with multi-line telephones and subdued lighting. The combination of old world charm with modern comforts creates a sophisticated yet relaxing atmosphere.

Fabulous dining opportunities await guests at Bern Five Star Hotels. Open-air dining with panoramic views is very popular in the summer months while sophisticated intimate restaurants with wood paneling and chandeliers provide the perfect venue for a gourmet dining experience. Swiss delicacies and French and Italian cuisine are very popular and are accompanied by an extensive wine list.

Being the center of Swiss politics and the Parliament, luxury hotels attract many guests to the city who are there for state activities and functions. As such these hotels offer fine meeting spaces which are perfect for any function or event, be it a conference, meeting, banquet or reception. The Hotel Bellevue Palace provides meeting facilities for up to 500 guests and can cater for banquets for up to 1000. Beautifully decorated meeting rooms together with professional conference and catering staff and state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment provide all the support required as well as the finest of cuisine to ensure that all meetings and events take place in style.

The Bern Five Star Hotels provide a stunning blend in a city where the modern mingles with the old, where discreetly styled homes and buildings have been added to coexist in harmony with the historic environment. Hotels provide first-class accommodation fit for Heads of State as well as leisure visitors, fabulous restaurants and views and an ambience rarely found in capital cities in Europe.
